This event will take place at The Baths Hall.

Tickets are only available from North Lincolnshire Library.

S-Con is Scunthorpe’s very own anime, manga and gaming convention, organized by North Lincolnshire Libraries.

It’s a very informal event with many different activities, tournaments and competitions taking place throughout the day. Many of our most popular activities are included in the standard entry price and include art and cosplay competitions, quizzes, fanfiction competition, Pokemon, Yugioh, MTG and Super Smash gaming tournaments, art and craft activities, face painting etc.

Special guests include Helen McCarthy, a writer, speaker, designer, consultant and poet. She's best known for her work on Japanese animation, comics and pop culture, and on needlecraft. She has written ten books, including the "Halliwell of anime", The Anime Encyclopedia, Hayao Miyazaki: Master of Japanese Animation, Manga Cross-Stitch, and the Harvey Award-winning The Art of Osamu Tezuka: God of Manga. Join Helen for a cross stitch workshop, no prior experience needed.

David Hancock is an artist specialing in cosplay artwork. For a little extra come and take part in his workshop and learn basic portraiture techniques, how to draw basic proportions etc. If you come in cosplay you can actually draw yourself as David will photograph you for the workshop. Learn about fursuiting or Lolita cosplay from our guest enthusiasts.

A number of specialist out of town retailers will be joining us for the event. More information can be found on the S-Con Facebook page. Tickets will be on sale at the Central Library in March and are priced between £5 and £7 depending on the workshops selected. All workshops are limited in availability so book early to secure your place. Family tickets are priced at £12.

Tickets can also be booked online from March at

The event is suitable for those aged 12 years and over. Those aged under 8 years may attend but must be accompanied by an adult. There will be a pay on the door option if you do leave it too late to buy an Early Bird ticket, but the standard entry fee will be £8.
